A fabric panel usually contains the front pieces, back piece and possibly lining pieces or pockets. The basic steps for assembling the vest are:
Cutting: Cut all the pieces out of the fabric carefully along the marked lines. The instructions usually recommend approximately 1.5 cm (5/8 inch) seam allowances if they have not already been included.
Shoulders: Place the front and back pieces with right sides facing each other and sew the shoulder seams. Press the seams open.
Side seams: Sew the side seams in the same way, with right sides facing each other.
