A shared pain—are we all just lazy?

We've all been there. An overflowing blue and yellow bag of clothes (you know the one) and shelves piling with stuff we no longer look at.

Donate it? Maybe the less valuable things.

Dump it? Obviously not.

Why don't we ever get around to reselling? It's not like there aren't solutions available, so why are we all saying no to profitable decluttering?

We felt this pain, and so did our friends and family. Everyone we spoke to related to one of these three:

  1. They had sold something before but found it was not worth the effort.

  2. Some wanted to sell but just never got around to it, feeling the process was too burdensome.

  3. Others had never even thought about reselling.

The obvious solution in our inboxes

I wish someone could just see into my closet, offer me cash for my items, and I could decide—then and there—whether to sell or keep.

What if we were able to simulate that exact experience? No laborsome listing. No decision-making paralysis over what you're ready to sell and what not.

It turned out, we already had everything we needed. It was sitting in our email accounts. Receipts and order confirmations of our past purchases, all neatly stored in our inboxes with item descriptions, prices, and photos ready to go.

And so, we began building Bought to remove the labor. To remove the excuses and to remove the need to even think about reselling.

By doing this, we're on our way to unleashing the hidden 95% of sellable goods sitting in closets and drawers all around us—unused, and unlisted. By unlocking that supply, we're on our way to building the largest, most desirable selection of secondhand goods on the market, all while making the experience fun and stupidly easy for both sellers and buyers.
